Waterproofing a Home's Exterior

Project Details

This 30-year-old colonial home in western Pulaski County was due for serious attention. The original wood siding and windows were showing signs of age, but the biggest concern for the homeowners was waterproofing. Poor workmanship from a previous contractor had left the home vulnerable to water damage, making it essential to address this issue during the renovation.

Sideco replaced the old siding with durable James Hardie products and installed new Marvin windows, ensuring a weatherproof seal to protect the home. Special attention was given to waterproofing the entire exterior, including the fascia, soffits, and gutters. With Sideco’s expertise, the home is now fully protected from future water damage.

The homeowners wanted a maintenance-free solution that would preserve the charm of their home’s Federal-style details, especially on the front façade. Sideco delivered by using materials designed to withstand the elements without sacrificing style. Their skilled crew and detailed process ensured that every area of the exterior was thoroughly sealed and ready to handle Arkansas’s unpredictable weather.

The end result is a beautifully updated home with a fully waterproofed exterior. Now, the homeowners can enjoy their retirement knowing their house is protected and virtually maintenance-free for decades to come.

Testimonial

First of all, let us say that we had an amazing experience with Sideco!  We had 3 other quotes for our job, but no one we spoke to instilled the confidence we needed to be able to tackle this job.  We had our entire exterior done; new siding, facia, soffit, gutters and windows.  We were particularly concerned about waterproofing because of shoddy workmanship the first time around because of prior contractor shortcuts.  We knew we wanted high quality windows because of our amazing views.  And, as retirees, we wanted our exterior to be virtually maintenance free.  We also loved the look of our home as it was, and wanted to retain the charm of all the Federal Style wood details on the front of the house.
Jimmy Russell has procured an impressive and talented crew of workers, and his project manager Anthony kept everything running smoothly.
Our project started on time, and took exactly as long as promised.  We were able to visit the showroom and have a hands on experience with the siding, windows and construction details which also added to our confidence level with using Sideco.
If I had one piece of advice for anyone considering using Sideco, it would be:  TRUST THE PROCESS!
It is nerve wracking to witness, and sometimes things are not done in the order one might anticipate, but on the last day when everything finally pulls together, the results are AMAZING and you will be very satisfied.

Value

We knew you were not the cheapest, but considering the amount of work done, the quality of the materials and installation, we felt that your company offered the best value

Recognized Excellence

Anthony made supervising so many people easy, when I know it actually is not that easy to manage staff. I didn't catch the name of the female interior painter, but everything she touched with a brush looked like it had been airbrushed or sprayed--never seen such a smooth paint job.

Areas For Improvement

Just for future customers, please advise that the landscaping will be harmed. Claiming that the workers will be as careful as possible sets unrealistic expectations for preservation of landscaping ( there was more damage than we anticipated). Also, the front iron railing should have been padded and protected since it had just been freshly repainted. Lastly there was paint, caulk and putty on the brick porch and sidewalk that could have been avoided if it had been covered

Areas Of Satisfaction

Overall, we are very pleased with our decision to use Sideco. It was a stressful decision for us considering how much this was going to cost, but since we plan on aging in place, we feel assured that the exterior of our house will be the last thing we'll ever have to worry about

Additional Comments

Adding the crown molding to the rear windows was the best decision ever! The back of the house always looked so plain, and now it has a more finished look to it. Also, it was absolutely the right call to have the downspouts painted to match the body of the house. Looks so much better than trying to settle for a color that we would have been distracting to us
